rouge wave | ink on vellum 2013
territory:wetlands explores Maine and New England's coastal wetlands with the intention to connect studio practice to the tidal fluctuations that shape the landscape. The result is a collection of drawings and video shorts that increasingly draw the viewer deeper into a submergent coastline. Under a wave: rouge 2013 pulls you into the surf of a sunset lit sea. A blurred horizon bounces in the distance as a wave washes over you squint, blink. Rouge wave 2013 the experience of a sunset pink sky seen through salty waves. Other work submerges the viewer, plunging you into the depths of brackish coastal inlets. Light from above seen through murky depths. A space uninhabitable to us but for brief intervals.
